Acoustic thermometry offers rapid accurate high-altitude temperature readings- A research team from the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has achieved real-time atmospheric temperature measurements at altitudes of up to 5,200 meters using a new acoustic thermometer mounted on a tethered aerostat. Their findings were published as a cover article in The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
